Description

Welch Allyn CP 150 Resting Electrocardiograph

The Welch Allyn CP 150 is a 12-lead resting electrocardiograph designed for primary care and general practice workflows. It combines a 7″ color touchscreen, integrated thermal printer, and optional connectivity (including DICOM) to streamline ECG acquisition, interpretation (MEANS algorithm), printing, and data export. An optional spirometry module is available to add basic pulmonary function testing on the same device.

Key clinical & workflow features

  • Touchscreen-first, instant-on UI: 7″ TFT capacitive touchscreen (800×480 WVGA) with “Instant On” for quick testing and easy data entry.

  • Integrated printer & full-size reports: Internal thermal printer with 8 dots/mm resolution; accepts Z-fold 21 cm × 28 cm paper and supports common report layouts (3×4, 6×2, 12×1, average cycles) at 25 or 50 mm/s.

  • Lead quality display & prompts: On-screen lead quality helps reduce repeat ECGs by catching connection issues before acquisition.

  • Interpretation: MEANS (Modular ECG Analysis System) algorithm for diagnostic interpretation.

  • Storage: At least 100 ECG tests in the device’s test directory.

  • Optional spirometry: Adds spirometry exams to the same platform to support PCP workflows.

Acquisition performance & filtering

  • Sampling & analysis: 8,000 samples/sec/channel for acquisition; 500/1,000 samples/sec/channel for adult/pediatric analysis and storage. Frequency range 0.3–150 Hz. Resolution 2.5 µV; 16-bit A/D.

  • Signal handling: CMRR > 80 dB; input impedance > 2.5 MΩ; dynamic range ±5 mV (AC), ±300 mV (DC offset). Pacemaker detection per ANSI/AAMI EC11.

  • Filters: High-performance baseline (0.5 Hz), muscle tremor (35 Hz), AC interference (50/60 Hz).

Connectivity & IT integration

  • Standard I/O: 1× USB client, 4× USB host, and Ethernet. PDF export to network folders or USB media.

  • Wireless: Integrated 802.11 a/b/g/n (no external dongle) with WEP/WPA/WPA2 and enterprise EAP options (EAP-FAST, TLS, TTLS, PEAP variants, LEAP).

  • DICOM workflows (optional license): Bidirectional DICOM for worklist download and ECG waveform upload to EMR/PACS/CVIS—no middleware required. Licensing/activation managed via Welch Allyn Service Tool.

  • EMR integration: CardioPerfect® WorkStation software supports EMR connectivity; HL7 middleware optional.

Printing & report formats (internal printer)

  • Paper & speeds: Z-fold 21 cm × 28 cm; 10, 25, or 50 mm/s. Gains: Auto ECGs 2.5/5/10/20 mm/mV; Rhythm ECGs 10/25/50 mm/mV. Standard or Cabrera lead sets.

  • Layouts: 3×4 (various durations), 3×4 + R, 6×2, 12×1, and average-cycle options.

Power, battery, and mobility

  • Power: Universal AC 110–240 V, 50/60 Hz (Class I, type CF).

  • Battery: 10.8 V, 73 Wh Li-ion; ~8 hours continuous operation or up to ~250 continuous ECGs (approx. 25 ECG tests at 20 min/test). ~4 hours to 90% recharge.

  • Weight & size (incl. battery/feet): 5.3 kg (11.7 lb); 380.9 mm (15 in) L × 358.1 mm (14.1 in) W × 136.2 mm (5.4 in) H.

Safety, compliance & EMC

  • Standards: Conforms to applicable IEC/EN 60601-1 series, IEC/EN 60601-2-25, IEC/EN 60601-2-51 (3×4 format), ANSI/AAMI EC11 & EC53, and related software/risk standards (EN/IEC 62304, 62366; EN/ISO 14971).

  • EMC & radio: Designed per IEC 60601-1-2; device includes 2.4 GHz FHSS or 5 GHz OFDM radio compliant with FCC and EU RED requirements (see DFU EMC section for immunity and emissions tables).

Typical configurations & options

  • Base CP 150 ECG with internal printer, touchscreen, and USB/Ethernet.

  • Wireless-enabled CP 150 with integrated 802.11 a/b/g/n radio.

  • DICOM-licensed CP 150 (software activation via Service Tool) for worklist and waveform exchange without middleware.

  • CP 150 with Spirometry option for combined ECG + spirometry workflow.

Environmental & service

  • Operating conditions: 10–40 °C; 15–95% RH (non-condensing; 30–70% for printing); 700–1060 hPa. Storage: −20–50 °C. Mode: continuous.

  • Service & upgrades: Software options (e.g., DICOM) activated through Welch Allyn Service Tool; radio software upgrades via USB tether to PC.

  • Warranty: 3-year device warranty; patient cable/battery 90 days.
